MPPP Partners do not have to have a legal background – most Partners don’t.
MPPP Partners collaborate with parole petitioners to identify potential family and community support for their release on parole, assist with reaching out to potential supporters, identify strong re-entry plans, collate information in support of the individual’s release into a packet to submit to the Parole Board, and help parole petitioners prepare to testify at their parole hearing.
Partners work with parole petitioners in teams of two, and are usually matched with parole petitioners about 12-18 months before the parole petitioner’s hearing date. Partners spend approximately 3-5 hours per week working with parole petitioners.
"My team is doing an excellent job walking me through the parole preparation process. They are very invested in me and have shown me support, kindness, and respect."
